In spite of the challenges faced by students across the country in taking instrumental examinations through the pandemic, Toby persevered with his vocal tuition and his plans to take his Grade 8 Music Theatre examination in December 2020. 

His perseverance paid off and we are very proud to celebrate Toby's achievement at Grade 8 with Distinction. Toby is taught by Bev Wightman, our vocal tutor who teaches a number of our students on her weekly visit to OWS. Toby began vocal lessons at OWS when Head of Music, Miss Dangerfield heard Toby casually quietly singing at school and realised he had a natural flair that had to be nurtured. 

Toby has been a member of the OWS vocal group 'Encore' since Year 8 and he has played lead roles in our productions of Grease, We Will Rock You and Sister Act. Toby is a great role model for all our students and we are proud to celebrate this outstanding achievement.
